Continuous Monitoring Gets Good Coverage at the NIST ITSAC 2012

October 1, 2012

Baltimore, MD “The NIST ITSAC 2012 tackles the critical topic of Continuous Monitoring in a way the industry hasn’t seen before,” says Debbie Taylor Moore, CEO of CyberZephyr, a cyber-management consulting firm based in Leesburg, VA.

NIST, The National Institutes of Standards and Technology will open its 8th annual IT Security Automation Conference in Baltimore on October 3rd through 5th at the Baltimore Convention Center. The conference showcases the standards, policies, technologies and leadership that will shape the future in cybersecurity automation. The content tracks include, Software Assurance, Continuous Monitoring, Incident Handling and Information Sharing, Analytics & Mitigation Trusted Computing & Security Automation.

“We’ve worked in collaboration with NCSD Director, John Streufert and his team, NIST and the SANS Institute to introduce compelling sessions and speakers on this track. “The industry is very focused on “ConMon”, and companies who want to compete and succeed within this evolving risk management framework will need to be knowledgeable,” said Moore. NIST and DHS will share the work and findings of experts in government, R&D, academia and industry who have been central to the development and analysis of the government’s needs and requirements. Finding “right fit” technologies, solutions and services to answer the call of Continuous Monitoring is critically important to government.

It is one of a handful of new major cybersecurity programs going forward in 2013. The Continuous Monitoring track will feature sessions on CONOPs, Metrics, Dashboards and Agency case studies. Round table discussions will cover other key topics delivered by the leaders, experts and agencies closest to them. “I believe it’s reasonable to expect this forum will be uniquely effective in helping the public and private sector achieve understanding about where they can derive and bring value. For cyber- businesses this is a “do not miss” opportunity,” said Moore.
